In today’s knowledge and information society, improving people’s understanding of research, technology and innovation is pivotal. Against this background, it is particularly important to permanently strengthen those areas that are vital to society’s innovative capabilities. Promoting education is crucial in this respect, and a main focus of our social commitment.
Deutsche Telekom Foundation – Investing in knowledge.
The Deutsche Telekom Foundation, founded in 2003, is at the heart of our commitment to education. As one of the largest corporate foundations in Germany, it campaigns for improvements to the educational system in the so-called MINT subjects (mathematics, IT, natural sciences and technology). In 2008, the Foundation boasted an annual budget of around EUR 13.2 million. In 2008, its assets were topped up from EUR 100 million to EUR 150 million. This capital increase has strengthened the Foundation’s educational work. The funds will be used to extend our successful activities throughout the entire educational chain, from day care centers to university. The Foundation’s projects are divided into four programs:
